A few weeks ago, Feminist Theatre company, Plunge, got in touch with me to tell me about their most current play. Their work addresses the medias effect on body image in women:
The show is funny, loud, rude and full of cake and Beyonce, but at its heart – the driving force of the show – is our personal experiences (both directly and indirectly) of eating disorders, our sense of isolation due to under representation in the media and the genuine desire to affect change.
We’ll be performing the show at Moor Theatre Delicatessen July 1st -4th and holding panel discussions after each show. We’ll also be performing our immersive show The Cake Shop during the days. The space will be filled with pro-female pop up things and we’re linking with organizations such as This Girl Can, LADIYfest, BODY charity, Girl Gang Sheffield who’ll be speaking on the panels as well as having stands in the space and sharing information about their work.
Everyone should come along to this, if not tonight – they’re here until the 4th, so click the link here and get yourself some tickets!
I was too chicken to speak about the work we do on their panel, but I’ll be taking zines along tonight and will be around to chat to if you’d like to buy one, or would like any more information!
See you there!
